Sometimes it’s difficult to judge whether or not a puppy is fully grown. It’s very important to make a distinction between the time that puppies reach their full adult size & the time it takes them to mature. Puppies are babies and just like human babies they’re going to go through a lot of different phases and stages on their way to adulthood.

Most puppies reach their full size by the time they are 12 to 18 months old, although it does take longer for some of the largest breeds to finish growing. Some breeds even reach a full frame within the first six months of life, although it takes longer for the rest of the body to catch up.

Even though our puppy may look grown up, the stages of puppy development last from birth to a year or even two before he’s considered an adult dog. The greatest puppy development changes happen from birth to twelve weeks of age. But from twelve weeks on, our puppy still has lots of growing up to do.
